It’s Your Neighborhood School
You can walk, bike, or bus to school, along with your kid’s classmates and neighbors. Seeing everyone in the morning and afternoons is a great way to build community connections and a sense of place for your children.
Your kid’s classmates and friends live right here in your neighborhood, making playdates, and swapping childcare easy and accessible.
Classmates will be on your kid’s sports teams, dance class, and you’ll create shared memories in and out of school.
You’ll run into friends, teachers and staff around the neighborhood because they live nearby too.
This neighborhood school goes back generations, and there are many proud alumni who live here with fond memories of North Beach. At the end of the year, the graduating seniors from nearby high schools come back to “Walk the Halls” of their beloved elementary school.
Programs that Support Curriculum
All students attend Music, Art, Library, and PE every week. 5th graders can also choose to do instrumental music.
Monthly schoolwide math challenge program
Reading buddies across grades.
North Beach partners with outside artists (performing and visual arts) to come to the school and work with our students.
Partnerships with both Pacific Science Center and Kids Science Lab to provide additional hand on STEM Education including our annual STEM day/night event.
4th & 5th graders participate in the Seattle Public Library’s Global Reading Challenge.
All grades go on several field trips a year: Seattle Children’s theater, UW Dance performances, Museums (MOHAI, Burke, Asian Art), Seattle Chocolate Factory, Space Needle/Monorail, Tidepooling on low tide, Kelsey Creek Farm, etc.
5th graders attend IslandWood for 3 nights for Outdoor Environmental Education.
North Beach had two teams for the 25-26 First Lego League robotics competition
4th graders learn about the salmon lifecycle by growing their own salmon from egg to fry and then release their fish into the wild in Carkeek Park
Our Amazing Teachers & Staff
They are kind, experienced, dedicated, and passionate about educating our children. Our staff stick around… for years and years. Happy Staff = Happy Kids & Parents
Many of our staff have students that go here. Some of our staff are the adult children of our current staff and teachers. They loved it so much, they came back to work here.
Staff are accessible to parents, and provide lots of communications, attend events and are members of the community.
Our staff go above and beyond and run lots of extra programs and curriculum for our kids.
Our PTA & Families
Our PTA is a highly engaged group of parents and caregivers who love North Beach and want to make it great for our kids and staff!
We raise funds and provide direct support to the school for staffing needs and classroom/education supports, host a variety of fun annual events, and create a strong community.

Small Faces
The school-aged program at Small Faces serves kindergarten through fifth grade children. At the end of the school day, a school bus takes kids to Small Faces Center where they are greeted by teachers and offered a snack before the program activities begin. Doors close at 5:30pm. Washington Karate After School Program
Transportation is available up to five days per week from select Seattle Schools and the dojo is located conveniently near the Greenwood Fred Meyer. Students have snack and homework time and a one hour karate class, where they learn skills and discipline. For more details visit www.washingtonkarate.com or call (206)784-3171.
Ballard Youth Creative (BYC)
BYC's aftercare enrichment program for K-5 students strikes the perfect balance between free play with teacher-led creative art activities, such as theater, photography, mixed media and dance/movement. BYC picks up daily at North Beach Elementary and offers enrichment until 5:30pm. Full-day coverage for some SPS closure days is included with tuition. Afterschool Care Programs
There are several after school care options, including some on and some off-campus, available to families. Registration occurs on a rolling basis. Contact the programs directly for more information. These are not vetted or endorsed by the PTA.
Afterschool Enrichment and Clubs
The PTA organizes afterschool enrichment programs in the Fall and Winter through third party organizations like Stone Soup Theater, Hall of Fame Sports Camp, Chess Wizards, and more. Clubs and activities are typically grouped by grade level (i.e. K-2 and 3-5) and run immediately after school on campus. These are announced a few weeks before registration and enrollment is based on a first come first served basis.
