makes great gifts!
We only have
a couple more weeks to order scrip cards. They make great graduation,
birthday and other celebration gifts, as well as help our school. Orders
should be turned in by 9:15 a.m. Friday, then they will be back by the
following Friday. Look for new and improved scrip offers in the fall!

Meeting on HB3026 -- Tuesday, June 8
The Seattle
Special Education PTSA and Northwest Exceptional Children's Association
Invite You To A TOWN HALL MEETING on Tuesday, June 8, at 7 pm to
discuss New Civil Rights Legislation (HB 3026) with the Office of State
Superintendent of Public Instruction, OSPI Equity and Civil Rights Office. HB
3026 prohibits discrimination in public schools based on race, creed,
religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation including gender
expression or identity, veteran or military status, disability, or the use of
a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability.
Families, students, advocates and organizations who work with students who
have disabilities are invited to provide input in developing state
regulations for HB 3026, which goes into effect on June 10th, 2010.

Input may be provided via public testimony and/or written input. Guidelines
for public testimony: (Confidentiality is assured.) Participants testifying
need to sign-in and testimony can be no longer than two (2) minutes. Written
handout of your public testimony can be included. (3 copies suggested) Those
not providing public testimony, can provide written input. (Forms are
provided.) Guiding questions have been provided to assist in developing your
testimony/input: 1. In your experience, how has discrimination been present/not
present in your school or district? 2. What are your experiences with your
school's process to address complaints of discrimination? 3. What are
recommendations for schools to eliminate discrimination based on protected
classes? 4. What concerns do you have regarding the implementation of HB
30226?

Furry 5K

The Seattle
Animal Shelter is pleased to present the 11th Annual Furry 5K Fun Run
& Walk! The race, which will take place in Seattle's
SewardPark on Sunday, June 20th, 2010,
raises needed money for the Help the Animals Fund. Join the fun as
thousands of people run and walk, with their friends, families, kids and of
course their dogs, in order to raise money for injured and abused orphaned
animals.

Soccer Camp is back again in 2010!
Come join
the Girls Varsity Soccer coaching staff and players at BallardHigh School
for a week of soccer this summer. New this year is our Middle School camp
geared toward the middle school soccer player wanting to take their playing
ability to the next level. At all of our camps the coaches will work with the
players to improve their technical, tactical and mental skills needed for
high level soccer. We will use technical & individual training along with
4v4 and 6v6 training modules. The coaches will demo all drills and
small-sided games so that all campers can watch these players/coaches at the
highest level perform. Our goal at the Beaver Soccer camp is to provide great
role models for the campers, help each camper build a road map for future
